The school the reptile world has been waiting for.

LIVE · SKILL HUBCHAPTER ROOM

For the first time.

Every discipline. One network.

Pioneers, breeders, herpetologists, conservationists, handlers.

The best of the reptile world — under one umbrella.

Brought together to preserve and expand reptile knowledge.

Bridging experience and academia.

Advancing research. Advancing conservation.

A stronger future for reptile science.

Bridging the community. Spreading education.

What began as a hobby — for outside-the-box people —

is now an industry of 50 million keepers worldwide.

We are here to keep building it.

A true master only becomes

a master because they never

cease being a student.

— Tommy Crutchfield
Eastern diamondback rattlesnake in a defensive coilTom Crutchfield and George Van Horn handling a monocled cobra

The modern reptile hobby and professional industry were built by legends who forged the path forward when no path existed.

Decades of hands-on experience.

Lifetimes of mistakes, breakthroughs, failures, discoveries, and obsession all sacrificed so future generations could go further than they did.

Every standard, every advancement, every breeder, keeper, educator, and facility standing today was built on their work.

But the story did not end with the pioneers who started it.

It continues through the keepers, breeders, educators, filmmakers, researchers, and innovators pushing the field forward right now

and the people still expanding what is possible and moving the reptile world into a new era.

Citadel Culebra exists to preserve that knowledge for the first time ever

directly from the people who built the reptile world as we know it, and the people shaping what it becomes next.

THE SYSTEM · CULEBRA
Everything connected. Nothing forgotten.

Stay connected to every animal in your care.

One system that holds every need, every record, every detail — so nothing falls through the cracks, and nothing gets left behind.

NSWEFlow
Control

Four tools.

One connection to everything you keep.

One account across all four. Your animals, your learning, your community, and your sourcing all share the same record — so you manage, learn, source, and connect without ever logging in twice.

The System

01 · The Community

Culebra Connect

Where you belong.

Every question you've had about your animals, answered by the people who've actually done the work — and no getting torn apart for asking a basic one. A moderated, respectful room where you can speak freely and disagree, organized by discipline, with a name behind every answer.

LIVE NOW
What's inside

Discipline channels · member-to-member connections · a feed tied to your collection and your coursework · built-in auto-translation, so members connect across languages from day one.

Coming: live video meetups and AMAs, and more faculty and TAs joining from around the world.

02 · The Academy

Culebra Codex

Where you learn.

A lifetime of hard-won knowledge, gathered in one place at last. Long-form courses and interactive ebooks from the people who built the field — built to teach you, test you, and stay with you. The library we always wished we had.

LIVE NOW
What's inside

Cinematic interactive book reader · long-form courses with exams and certificates · flashcards, highlights, and notes · library-wide search across everything · every course and ebook auto-translated into nearly every language.

Coming: live cohort classes.

03 · The Marketplace

Culebra Exchange

Where you source.

The marketplace built the way keepers always wished it worked. Honest listings, vetted breeders, shipping and escrow handled — so you can source your next animal, and pass yours on, with people you trust.

COMING SUMMER 2026
What's coming

Listings for animals, supplies, caging, and feeders · reserve from upcoming clutches · verified breeders and stores · escrow checkout with integrated shipping · message a seller — or inspect an animal on a live call — before you buy.

04 · The Operational Brain

Culebra Cerebro

Where you operate.

Your whole collection in one place, finally. Every animal, every feeding, every shed, every breeding, every record — from one snake to a 3,000-animal zoological facility. Everything they need, always in front of you, from your phone.

COMING SUMMER 2026
What's coming

Living collection records with photos, morph, and lineage · feeding, shedding, weight, and climate logs · breeding projects with a morph-odds calculator · automated care reminders · health notes that carry straight into a vet consult.

The anatomy of the system
King cobra skeleton, hood spread

One spine. Every part connected.

Four products built on one structure — so everything you keep moves as one.

CULEBRA CONNECT · THE COMMUNITY

Finally — social media built for reptile people.

Connect is curated, nurtured discussion with a hard zero-bullying, zero-put-down policy. Ask the basic question without getting torn apart. Float the controversial one. Disagree — even with a little spice — it just can never be disrespectful or degrading. Every room is moderated by classmates, teaching assistants, and the experts themselves, with clear guidelines, so you hear every perspective and learn how to decide your own.

Think something's wrong with your animal? Ask — and get the read of a whole room of experienced keepers and proven experts. Breeding, medical issues, socialization, changing a behavior, enclosures, substrates, feeding and frequency — get confirmations, second opinions, and real coaching from people who've actually done it. The goal is to teach you as much as we can, and give you a trusted place to come back to for reliable answers.

It's a full social platform for reptile people — meetups, cohorts, and a feed that's actually yours. And it's wired into the rest of the system: your notes and learning flow into Codex, and if you sell, your Exchange storefront is right here for the community to find.

CULEBRA CODEX · THE ACADEMY

Learn the craft like you're in the room with them.

Codex is an interactive learning platform — not a pile of PDFs. Take long-form eCourses (3, 6, 9, and 12-week) that feel like sitting down with the person and learning directly from them, earn real certifications, and read a growing library of literature, published papers, and opinion letters on the topics that actually matter.

Underneath the courses is a deep how-to library — the specific methods people actually use. Clearing mites. Introducing males to females. Holding your temperatures. Getting animals into breeding, first socialization, reading behavior. Incubation, raising neonates, common ailments, conservation, and species deep-dives with real field observations. New work gets published here constantly — all included with your membership, or buy any piece à la carte.

And it's built to make it stick: a note-taking platform on web and in the app, plus flashcards, quizzes, and self-assessments — so you're not just consuming knowledge, you're keeping it.

CULEBRA EXCHANGE · THE MARKETPLACE

The newest way to buy and sell reptiles. And it's free.

Exchange is the newest way to buy and sell reptiles — at no cost. AI keeps every sale compliant with the law, so animals never go where they're not supposed to, and the required paperwork uploads automatically. Sellers are vetted, with a review committee and a compliance committee making sure animals ship healthy and everything's above board.

Beyond animals, Exchange carries the gear — substrates, feeders, lighting, and husbandry supplies — with expedited shipping, tied straight in with the vendors we're locking in. We're partnering with the major reptile shippers, with direct FedEx ground integration into FedEx hubs, so moving an animal from A to B is handled. (And anyone willing to work with us and build the community — we're glad to work with them.)

It's built like social media, too. Plug in your socials, build a profile, and showcase the animals in your collection or the ones you're after. Make wish lists, save playlists of the listings you love, and dig into resources on expos and more as we keep building it out.

CULEBRA CEREBRO · WHY IT EXISTS

Excel was great. But it's not 2003.

From your first gecko to a 3,000-animal zoological facility.

We love a good spreadsheet as much as anyone — but it's not 2003 anymore, and honestly, we can't even imagine what some of y'all's blood pressure is doing right now, trying to run a whole collection across forty tabs, a wall of sticky notes, and a binder of paper feeding charts.

Because the real cost was never a messy spreadsheet. It's the animal you lose because something slipped through — a shed you didn't clock, a weight that quietly dropped, a behavior change that was the early warning, sitting in a stack of paper you hadn't filed yet. When you're overwhelmed, waiting on documents and tracking everything the paper way, the things that matter most are the easiest to miss.

Cerebro keeps your pulse on every animal — and everything around it. So you notice the behavior, intercept the illness before it turns, and stop missing the opportunities. Clear records for everything. Trends you can actually evaluate. It lets you stay on top of every single thing as best you possibly can, optimize your operation, genuinely improve the lives of your animals — and give you back some bandwidth.

Four products. One view into everything.

Connect, Codex, Exchange, and Cerebro — one account, one continuous experience. Every part of the reptile world, in a single view.

Built for keepers — from your first gecko to a 3,000-animal facility.

From your first gecko to a 3,000-animal zoological facility everything your animals need, held in one system, so you can stay connected to every one of them.

There's rarely just one right way to keep an animal. You'll learn the trade-offs, hear how different keepers do it, and build the judgment to make your own decisions — with confidence.

An open ecosystem — built to work together.

We're in the process of integrating with every one of our favorite platforms for buying, trading, and shipping reptiles. This isn't here to replace anything that's out there — it's a new solution, built to work alongside the people and companies already serving this community. Whichever companies are willing to work with us, we'll work with them.

The Teaching

like sitting down with one of the greats — one-on-one.

This is what it has never been before: the legends of the reptile world, sitting across from you, teaching you directly.

Our courses are interactive — built so it feels like a private lesson with the people who actually built this field. Not a lecture. Not a playlist. You're in the room with them, hearing the things they've never told anyone — the stories behind the breakthroughs, the failures nobody talks about, the calls they made when there was no playbook. Decades of hard-won knowledge, finally pulled out of private circles and put on the record for you.

And it's not just stories. Every how-to is documented, tested, and structured into a real curriculum — the way they actually do it, step by step. You learn the way each legend works, sit their exams, earn credentials that carry real weight — and then decide your own way. Adopt one master's method. Tweak another's. Build your own from all of them. There's rarely one right way to keep an animal — so you'll learn every approach and walk out with the judgment to make your own call, with confidence.

The Library

for the first time ever — all of it, in one place.

No more scouring YouTube for a half-answer. No more digging through Facebook groups, dead forums, and scattered articles hoping someone knows what they're talking about. We are consolidating the entire field — every discipline, every method, every legend — and structuring it into one institution for the first time in history.

A LIVING DOCUMENT

We're still writing this down.

Reptile history has never been formally recorded — it's scattered across decades, countries, and memories, and we're still compiling it every single day. If you're not here and you should be, or you feel someone is missing, that's no judgment — it's just how fragmented this history is. It's a part of why we're doing this.

This is the first time this is being documented in an official capacity — so the people who do this work can finally understand the field they're part of. Know someone who belongs here? Reach out to our team and we'll make sure they're reflected.

IN HOMAGE · 1962–2006

In loving tribute to the greatest conservationist who ever walked the face of the earth

Stephen Robert Irwin

Steve Irwin

For a generation of keepers who grew up in the late nineties and early two-thousands, Steve Irwin — The Crocodile Hunter — was the spark.

The one who lit the fire to pursue reptiles, wildlife, and conservation in the first place.

More than a television personality.

The greatest wildlife warrior the world has ever seen.

A note on what follows: the four scenes below are a CGI animation, created purely to paint the visuals of this tribute. It is not real footage — and it is not Steve Irwin himself.

01 · Aerial — to his car
02 · The red-bellied black snake
03 · To the water, and around
04 · The crocodile, swimming off

He changed the way millions saw reptiles, especially crocodilians and other dangerous animals —

bringing people into their world, and showing the beauty, the intelligence, and the importance where there had only been fear.

He believed that when people could truly see wildlife — experience it, understand it — they would want to protect it.

His mission did not die with him.

It lives on in every keeper, educator, rescuer, conservationist, and advocate continuing the work today — and in the generations of conservationists who came before him, whose foundation he carried forward.

As reptile keepers and animal lovers, the mission is now ours.

To educate. To turn fear into understanding. To help the world see these animals for what they truly are.

In honor and loving memory of
Steve Irwin

// CITADEL CULEBRA / FEDERATION STACK

One credential. Four working tools.

The Citadel is wired into a working stack of tools shipped by the federation. Each platform stands on its own, but they share the same network — your animals, your records, your community, your library, your marketplace, all under one credential.

01 · CEREBROLIVE · 2026

The operating system.

Every animal. Every breeding. Every husbandry note, vet record, and shed log — in one record-keeping core that runs your whole collection from phone to facility.

02 · CODEXLIVE · 2026

The library.

Read the books. Take the live classes. Annotate, flashcard, and archive the chapters you'll come back to. The growing reference set for the field.

03 · EXCHANGESUMMER 2026

The marketplace.

List animals, supplies, and caging. Reserve breedings. Escrow + integrated shipping — built for keepers and breeders running a real practice.

04 · CONNECTLIVE · 2026

The community.

Threads, workrooms, AMAs, and pinned archives with the people who built the field. The room they built — now open.

Sign in once. The whole institute opens.

// CHARTER / CLASS OF 2026

Reverence · The Lineage

Builtwithreverence.

The Citadel exists because of the keepers, breeders, scientists, conservationists, and educators who built this field. The institute is stewardship of that lineage — not ownership of it. Every program ships with the people who built it credited on its first page.

We stand on the shoulders of those who came before us, learn alongside the ones doing the work today, and build to pave the way for those who come next.

IN MEMORIAM · STEVE IRWIN · 1962 — 2006

Conservation is everything — it is what he instilled in us, and it is what we have to carry forward. It is our responsibility, as the people who keep these animals, to take the time to truly understand them, to learn them, and to teach the world that they are not evil, ugly monsters, but amazing creatures to be admired, loved, and cherished.

Citadel Culebra is not affiliated with, endorsed by, or operated in partnership with Australia Zoo, the Irwin family, or any Steve Irwin estate or charity. Tribute and advocacy only.

We stand on their shoulders, on purpose.

ON MASTERY · A NOTE FROM THE INSTITUTE

Anyone can provoke an animal. Anyone can create a reaction.

True mastery is understanding.

It takes very little skill to make a snake strike, a monitor lizard tail whip, or an animal appear dangerous.

Fear is easy to create. Conflict is easy to create. Spectacle is easy to create.

What is difficult is earning trust.

The greatest keepers are not those who overpower animals, force reactions, or measure success by how dangerous an encounter appears. They are the ones who dedicate themselves to understanding behavior, recognizing boundaries, and building relationships founded on patience, discipline, and respect.

The legends of this field are remembered not because they proved they were tougher than the animals they worked with, but because they learned to understand them better than anyone else.

The goal is not control.

The goal is connection.

“The brave men didn’t kill dragons. The brave men rode them.”
