Tribute to Steve Irwin
Steve Irwin — the greatest wildlife ambassador who ever lived.

Some people advocate for wildlife. Steve Irwin made an entire planet feel it. He took the animals people were taught to fear — crocodiles, snakes, the misunderstood and the maligned — and through pure, unguarded enthusiasm, made the world love them. That is not a skill you can train. It was who he was.

What made Steve singular wasn't the showmanship; it was the sincerity underneath it. Every keeper who has ever knelt to show a child a reptile and watched fear turn to wonder is working in his lineage. He raised the ceiling for what one person's passion could do for conservation, and then he gave his life inside that work.
